Clothes Closet
Clothes Closet was started by the Federation of Jewish Women in 1962. League of Terre Haute adopted it as our project in 1990 as it complemented the mission statement.
We serve Vigo County school children in grades K-12 in all the County schools. The clothing “orders” are filled to give the child a week’s worth of clothing and underwear. Clothing orders are requested through the school nurse at each school, and then League members work shifts to quickly fill the orders.
The general public can help support the League by making a monetary donation to The League of Terre Haute and designate it for Clothes Closet. We are always in need. The approximate cost to fill an order is: $250 (based on sales-priced items).
The Clothes Closet tries to fill ALL needs, including ones that stem from flood, fire, pregnancy, and children taken from homes. We have yet to turn down a child in need.
